What is the role of the Child Support Worker

The Child Support Worker of FRTH enjoys taking the time to learn, engage, and build relationships with each child during their stay with us.  She can help with topics such as ; feelings, parenting tips, relationships, family, and change.  She can also help you access community supports for your child/children.  She works a flexible schedule to be available to support you, with anything regarding your child/ children while living at FRTH.

Participating in the children support services is your choice while staying at FRTH. However, the Child Support Worker can provide outreach services after your stay with FRTH.

Child Support Worker Programs

The Child Support Worker provides a variety of groups for our community.
She currently runs a Outreach Youth Group locally. The program is to support youth by providing them with a “tool” box of life skills. She takes this opportunity to support youth with many aspects in their life such as ; self-esteem, stress management, how to express feelings, health relationships, teamwork, mental health, communication, setting boundaries, safety planning, help with understanding all community supports they can use, etc.

Some youth are unaware to what “typical” living styles are. She helps by giving them a toolbox to guide them with life issues they might face. Some youth have a difficult time communicating with their parents/ guardian about varies topics. The Child and Youth worker helps support the youth by being a person they can trust to ask difficult questions or concerns they are facing.  This group allows youth to speak in confidence about things they need to just get out! Each youth is talked to about conditionality and how import it is to maintain with the group to help support one another.

Other programs offered by the CSW are:
Girls Circle, Boy council, and Fourth R Programming in schools
