Who We Are

Transition Houses and safe homes were established in the 1970's by women's groups across Canada for women experiencing abuse by their partners.  Transition Houses became more than a safe place for a women to go, they were also the hub of a movement to change society's attitudes towards family violence.  This movement also put pressure on government for legal reform and stable funding for women centered services.

Our History

Fundy Region Transition House, Inc. (FRTH) has been opening its doors to women and children fleeing abuse and violence for over 40 years. Still today, family violence and violence against women and children is a reality, not only in the communities of Charlotte County but Canada as a whole.  Fundy Region Transition House provides shelter, safety, security, public education and several other programs and services to women, teens and children, with a goal to bring an end to the intergenerational cycle of abuse throughout Charlotte County and beyond.
